Shattered dreams

As the light grows dim,
as the colours fade,
as my loneliness sets in,

I smile at you,
start the masquerade,
and I hide my state within.

Pushing back my tears,
silence my crying heart
appearing to agree.

Blocking out my fears,
feel us drift apart,
I’m setting your heart free.

I watch you drift off,
my heart screams out,
my world collapses around.

As the screams evolve,
become too loud.
I throw my mask down on the ground.

I give up on live with a shattering sigh,
and lay down in the darkness to die.
